Why is Colour Important?

At CLiC we have based our wellness programs and retreats around colour. It is not because there are scientific facts that suggest colour can cure all emotional, mental and physical ailments – but it is an effective visualisation tool. We see colour. We make associations with colour. We have favourite colours or shades of colour. We associate emotions with colour. The colour doesn’t cause the reactions in us, but the association of the colour does. When we use colour as a vehicle that can take us on a journey of self-discovery, it becomes a useful instrument. We can use colour to make positive associations and focus our attention which is a vital element in modifying our thought patterns and help healing.

So, what is colour?

Colour is actually part of light and light is made up of vibrating energy. This energy vibrates at different speeds and all of the energy put together creates the colour spectrum. You can imagine the colour spectrum as a line of colour. It starts with red on the left as the lowest vibrations and then moves through to the highest vibration, violet on the right. One easy way to remember the colour order is ‘Roy G. Biv’: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. For our program we use white for the 7th colour and the crown chakra.

Chakras

Just like a rainbow, the colour of our chakras blend into one another. The individual chakras are located in specific parts of your body, but they radiate out and blend together with the chakras on either side. This means that both the chakras and rainbows contain the entire colour spectrum that we can see with the human eye. This is why all colours are valid and important to our healing process.

Let’s have a little bit more in-depth look at the chakras:

1st Chakra - Root Chakra

Colour Healing Summarised

Colours in themselves can be used as a powerful tool for cultivating awareness, self-reflection, personal development and healing if we focus on them for their positive attributes and associations. At CLiC we have created a systematic way to work with colours and their positive associations. To feel the benefit of Colour Healing, you do not need to know about the chakras, or even believe in them. They are merely tools to help visualisation and associate healthy thought patterns. If we believe yellow will make us feel happy and empowered, each time we focus on this colour we will feel these emotions. Colour is a positive and fun way to bring healing and balance into your life, and we show you how with our CLiC programs.
